Had my Bank Account Violated

My husband and I switched to Traveler's insurance about a year ago. Due to some financial issues we had decided to go with them because they offered us a lower rate. In July my husband was in an accident. Not only did they not investigate the other driver even after we told him he had flat out told my husband that he was going to just milk our insurance to take care of conditions he already had, but then they questioned my husband on whether or not he needed care when our car sustained the greatest damage and impact. Because my husband was the last car in a three car pile up the fault fell to him even though it was the middle car who his his brakes suddenly because he was about to slam into the car in front of him. We knew insurance was going to go up, but when it more than doubled we knew we would need to make a change yet again. I managed to get a decent rate with our old insurance company, set it up and notified Traveler's that we would no longer be our insurance carrier. Service was supposed to end at the end of the month and then our new one begin. Then they screwed me yet again. I just got charged by Traveler's even though I told them that I was not going to continue service with them. I called to find out what was going on and they said that it was because I enrolled in automatic withdrawl from my bank account. Essentially I get charged for an extra month because I paid when I started and then magically I pay at the end of the month for service instead of at the start of each month of service as I have been accustomed to. Now I'm going to be charged twice at a time when my budget is too tight to bear the expense. We will be overdrawn, there will be fees and all the hard work we've done to pull ourselves out of poverty will be set back by at least a few more months. All they could say was 'gee, sorry that happened, I guess whoever you talked to should have explained that better.' DO NOT do business with this company, they are not there to help, only to line their pockets at the expense of others.

Jim

The renewal for my homeowner's policy, with Travelers, was coming up. About a month before expiration, Travelers sent a renewal notice along with the new invoice. There was a 20% increase from the previous year. We've never made any claims on our Travelers home policy. When I questioned why we are hit with a 20% increase their answer was that Travelers had settled many weather related claims throughout the previous year. I asked what does that have to do with me, I've made no claims, ever. Travelers said the increase is being spread around to everyone. I told them to increase the premiums on those who make claims, not to those who don't. That fell on deaf ears. Well maybe they'll hear this: I will be shopping around.

I wouldn't get on a public forum and call people..."mentally dumb" unless I made sure I punctuated my sentences correctly and didn't sound like a *** *** myself but that's just me.

Someone else's claim made against my home

My homeowner's insurance policy is up for renewal and while I was trying to get a homeowner's insurance quote, the agent looked up my social security number and found that there was a claim made against me that I never filed. It involved a boat policy claim. I have never owned a boat, had a boating license, filed a claim against anyone involved a boat nor held a Travelers Insurance Policy. I tried to contact Travelers but the office was closed. I questioned the person giving me the quote of how this could be but she could not give me any answers.

Travelers Auto Insurance lost a good customer

I am and had always been the safest driver in the world. When my car skid when it was snowing, Travelers Auto Insurance gave a small portion of the amount I had to spend for a new hubcap and tire, but they also took away my safe drivers discount even though the skid was not my fault! This is why I no longer hold Travelers Auto Insurance. I had been paying them for years, but when it came time that I needed them, these were the results. Travelers, I suggest you no longer remove safe drivers discounts for the safest drivers or they will no longer be your customers.

You filed a claim right?? That doesn't make you a safe driver. Your fault or not...a.claim makes you less of an unsafe driver..that's any insurance.

I work for travelers

as a travelers employee let me apologize to everyone who has a complaint, unfortunately it is not much better working there, in facts it sucks. as a general rule insurance companies raise their rates to make sure they have enough money to pay for claims, but what they wont tell you is that they also raise rates to LOSE customers, yes i said it, they intentionally want you to leave and go somewhere else.

why? great question, when an insurance company has too much of the market that also means when a disaster happens they have more claims to pay. solution, raise rates to LOSE customers and the ones who do stay are now paying more premium, yay (somewhere an actuary is getting a bonus!) so when you call in to complain about your rate increase please know that it sucks, you hate it, i hate and more importantly there is not a whole lot that can be done about it, i will try to sell you on our *ahem* "customer service" hoping that you'll stay when deep down i want to tell you the truth.

also just an fyi, our computer system is straight from the 1950's, our billing system operates on pure magic, and we still have to HAND TYPE documents like id cards (even though i've heard rumors of some mystical technology that can prefill these, a computer from this century!!) and the stuff that does prefill on like a letter is not relevant at all to your situation and i cant change it but still have to send it. well, breaks over, back to work :(

Travelers Insurance is a Complete Scam!!

Updated by user Oct 25, 2012

Overall, when I completed their online quote it specifically stated \"Please include all licensed relatives who live with you and anyone else who drives your vehicle(s). Roommates and nannies do not need to be included unless they drive your vehicle(s).\" Therefore, I did not list my husband (fiance\' at the time) because at that time he was my \"roommate and did not drive my car\".

Therefore, Travelers Insurance Co.

is responsible for providing me with the full Comprehensive/Collision Coverage that I paid for every month, on time. Their actions have been the epitome of what a Bad Faith Claim really is.

Original review Oct 18, 2012
I have been "insured" with travelers for almost 8 months. I use "insured" loosley, because last month my car was stolen, vandalized, and set on fire which resulted in a Total Loss. Well, now that it's time for Travelers to pay off my Car they are trying to allege that I "Misrepresentated information in my Application" when I initially applied for my policy with them. Because I did not list my husband, who was my fiance at the time, as "in my household. Okay, okay, I admit I missed that particular question on the application so that was my fault, however I didn't list him because he didn't drive my car, had his own car, and had his own insurance, so why would I list him? Granted I did call them during the 30 day review period and added him as in my household, but made sure that I reiterated that he doesn't drive my car so he shouldn't be listed anywhere on my policy, and that he has his own insurance. Well be assured when I received my updated policy not only did they list him as a driver, they dropped my coverage, and I didn't see my name anywhere on the policy. So what did I do? I canceled the policy and resubmitted it as I had before excluding my husband's name (fiance at the time) of course since they made a mistake the last time. Well, the policy was approved, Travelers has been withdrawing my premium from my account every month, I have my coverage and everything is lovely right? Well, nope, now that someone has stolen my car and they are responsible for paying it off, they have denied my claim for "Misrepresentation of Information" and stated they are going to refund me for all of the premiums that I've paid! Granted they've had access to my current policy and previous policy all this time and now that they are responsible to pay for something, they want to squirm out of taking care their responsibility. So it looks like we are going to court!! Wow what a scam!!

I always wonder why people don't think that companies want to guard their money. If you were insuring someone and it was your company you'd want information and honesty.

Clearly you didn't give information then instead of having it corrected you had a new policy written?? Weird lol..i don't think Travelers is the scam here.

and to the other commenter about auto insurance goes with the auto...welll humans drive said autos and some have several accidents. If someone you knew had six accidents would you want them driving your vehicle?

Guest

Yeap, i have had my own dealing with them, they are a complete scam. goodluck with anyone that has them as an insurance company!, you might as well not have an insurance than having them.

Guest

When you buy insurance you are insuring the car and not the person! That is why it is called "CAR INSURANCE" and not people ins. Call a Lawyer ASAP!

THIS COMPANY IS A RIP-OFF

I was hit in the rear by Sidney Brown Trucking Co. who lied about the accident. Only a complete *** would have believed the *** he stated. Travelers Insurance came along behind him doing everything they could to cover up his ***. If you take the time to check out badfaith.org and Google Scholar (then click on legal type in Travelers Insurance you will find that this company has been sued and sued and sued for their lousy policies please look on twitter at ub4me@***.com. The car you see is the one that got destroyed by Sidney Brown Trucking co. and all they have done is to coverup his lies and nonsense. If you get a judgement in a court of law, they will appeal it all the way to the supreme court in an effort to keep from paying you any compensation

Rate Increase

I have been insured by Travelers (Consumer Mutual) Auto for 16 years. Received renewal notice 9-12-12 with a 15.9% increase. No accidents or tickets in the past year. Pay yearly premium. Obtained several quotes from other companies with Travelers being the highest of them all. Have home owners with them also for the same period of time. They claim the reason the rate increased so much is due to their bad high claims last year. I am switching to another company. Check around if you receive such a enormous increase in your premium as 15.9% is ridiculous.

Travelers Insurance are LIARS and take advantage of good people!

A couple weeks ago a man backed into my vehicle who's company RIMCO/Aaron's has Travelers Insurance. I am unable to open my driver's side door and there was no damage to the other vehicle. The man admitted fault at the time and said that everything will be taken care of. I trusted him which was a mistake. It has been a NIGHTMARE dealing with Travelers Claim office from day one. Every time I spoke with the claims officer he would make an excuse for the delay. He was always missing something or the driver (man) was not cor operating. Travelers ended up getting the man to lie and change the story of what actually happened. So they are denying responsibility when he was at fault. The claims officer said it was your word vs his words. Of course they are going to take his side since his company has Tavelers. I want you to know my story so it doesn't happen to anyone else. Please make sure you have witnesses, take lots of pictures before the vehicles have been moved, and also check to see if there is a video camara in the area that might have recorded the accident.

Travelers caught stealing money

A car travelers insures hit my car and a month later I am still fighting for them to pay for my vehicles repairs. There auto body shop could not do the repairs do to chipped paint and told me after it being in there garage for a week on friday evening I had to send it somewhere else. I did but when the Auto shop and travelers gave me the checks to take to the new auto shop it was missing money. As well as a damage they were suppose to pay for was erased of the new estimate! They stole over $700 in my repairs. After two weeks and threat for legal action they finally paid up! I had to call them everyday and personally go into there officer and personally go to the adjuster about 4 or 5 times for them to get it that I am not going away. DONT EVER USE THEM. They steal and claim its a mistake on the auto body shop!

Travelers insurance is shameful

I had been a client of Travelers Insurance for 15 years. Almost 2 years ago I was given an infraction which increased my premium. Last year Travelers increased it and even though I could have gotten insurance cheaper somewhere else I stuck with them. My insurance renews every year in May. Well I call yesterday regarding possibly lowering my premium and I was shocked to be told that they had dropped me back in May. They said they sent me a letter notifying me which is funny that they send it to an address different than my mailing address. They have my number and they could have at least given me a courtesy call. Now I am stuck paying and extra $500 a year because now I am an uninsured motorized since it has been more than a month. Is this even legal? Insurance companies need to be held accountable for doing this to people. Travelers is aweful and have no consideration for their customers.

Travellers Insurance Tom Rocheleau is a stalker

This company is horrible, their agent Tom Rocheleau has been stalking me and others online using the name Porcia83. He is doing his best to destroy other's lives, he is a *** troll who needs to get off the internet...

This person will rip you off, and then spend endless hours online trying to hurt you.

He's a truly frightening person, he is scaring my family.

Traveller's insurance will do nothing about it, even though he posts all day from his office at Traveller's in Connecticut. Why would you spend your money at a company that tolerates a *** online stalker like him?

Seriously, just because you don't like Tom's opinion of how you can't run your business ethically doesn't mean Tom is evil or that his place of employment is evil. Attacking him personally and his place of employment is not the way to go.

I believe this is why TRAVELLERS INSURANCE will not do a single thing to help you.

You really should grow up and step up to the plate and run your place of business ethically and address your customers. That is the real EASY solution.
